VENEZUELA COIN SET
Though rich with oil, Venezuela has been hit with severe inflation
which has forced them to issue new coins. Though the coins are
new, the design is not. Venezuela continues to use the same
portrait of Simon Bolivar they have used on their coinage since
1874.! The reverse features the Venezuelan arms and the
denomination. Included in this set is the 10, 20, 50 and 100
Bolivars dated 2000 to 2002 and the 1998 500 Bolivars.

OBSOLETE ECUADOR COIN SET INCLUDES 3
BI-METALLIC COINS
This seven coin set from Ecuador includes the 1 Sucres dated
1988. According to the Standard Catalog of World Coins, all but
100,000 of these coins were withdrawn from circulation and melted. Also
included are the 10, 20 and 50 Sucres dated 1991 that picture ancient
artifacts and monuments. The 100, 500 and 1000 Sucres are
bi-metallic coins that commemorate the Central Bank of Ecuador.
It is an ironic commemorative as they were the last Sucre coins to be
issued. Due to the inability of the Central Bank to
control inflation, in 2000 Ecuador abandoned the Sucre as their
currency and
is now using the United States dollar.

CUBA'S CONFUSING COIN SYSTEM
In an effort to keep a tight control over its economy, the Cuban
government instituted an unusual monetary system that uses two
different coin and currency systems The coins are not inter-changeable,
but both are called Pesos. Most Cubans are paid in the regular
Cuban Pesos, which can be used to buy basic necessities. Tourists
and Cubans lucky enough to have family living overseas that send them
hard currency can exchange their hard currency for Convertible Pesos.
The Convertible Peso, which was based on the United States Dollar, can
be used to buy goods and services that are deemed to be
"luxuries". In reality this seems to mean just about anything
other than rice and beans. This encourages overseas family
members to send money to Cuba, yet allows the government to keep all
the hard currency. We offer both sets of these distinct Cuban
coins. The regular Cuban Peso includes the aluminum 1, 2, 5, 20
Centavos, brass plated steel 1 and nickel clad steel 3 Pesos. The
centavo coins feature a star on one side. The 1 Peso pictures Jose
Marti and the 3 Peso pictures Che Guevera. (Cuba does not issue a
10 or 50 Centavo coin in this series). The Convertible Peso coins
include the aluminum 1 Centavo, the stainless steel 5, 10, 25, 50
Centavos and 1 Peso and the bi-metallic 5 Pesos. The Convertible
5 Pesos pictures Che Guevara, while the other denominations feature
famous Cuban landmarks. The reverse of all the Cuban coins
features the national arms. We also offer the two coins included in
these sets that picture Che Guevara individually.

COIN SET OF THE ONCE, FUTURE, AND LAST
KING OF NEPAL
In June of 2001 tragedy struck the Royal Family of Nepal. In a
crazed massacre instigated by a dispute over his choice for a bride,
the Crown Prince murdered the King and most of the Royal Family before
killing himself. The throne passed to the King's brother
Gyanendra. Interestingly King Gyanendra had held the throne once
before. In 1950, when he was only
four years old, he was made
king in a dispute between various factions in the Nepal
government. His reign lasted only
two month before he was forced to resign. Since regaining the
throne, the country has been spinning out of control. His autocratic
and inept rule united most of the country against him. The opposition
movements now control the government and have announced that they will
abolish the monarchy and make Nepal a republic. This four coin
set of King
Gyanendra includes the 25 and 50 Paisa which picture the royal crown,
as well
as the 1 and 2 Rupees which picture temples. The Uncirculated coins are
dated
between 2058 and 2061 in the Vikrama Samvat era, (2001 to 2004
AD).

COINS FROM TINY
ANDORRA
Andorra
is a tiny nation located in the Pyrenees between France and
Spain.
In 2002 both France and Spain switched to the Euro. It was
expected
that Andorra would also issue Euro coins. Unfortunately Andorra
failed
to sign a monetary treaty with either France or Spain, so the European
Central Bank did not allow
them
to issue any Euro coins. Instead they came out with an issue
using
their existing monetary system. This 2002 four coin set includes
a
5 Centims other showing a Capercaillie
(European
Grouse) bird. There are three
different
1 Centime coins. They feature a The Lamb of God, a chamois goat,

Pence that pictures a Guernsey cow that date between 1956 and
